Samaritan at Karbi Anglong

Ninetyfour Field Regiment (charwa Gunners) organised a medical camp in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The unit after fighting insurgents for the last three years in the district decided to fight the ailments plaguing the public.


Charwa Gunners distributed medicines worth Rs 1,50,000 at the camp which was inaugurated by Col Surinder Kumar, Commanding Officer of the battalion. It was attended by a large number of local residents. Five civilian doctors from the local Health Centre participated in the camp.

In another project, a tailoring institute was opened at Lumding, Nowgaon in Assam. The institute, equipped with 20 sewing machines, was inaugurated by Brig Anjan Mukherjee, Commander, 2 Mountain Artillery Brigade. The inauguration ceremony was attended by as many as 1,500 people who witnessed the handing over of the institute by the battalion to the civil authorities. These projects were taken up under operation Samaritan.
