Charwa Gunners of the Dah Division celebrated the 'Charwa Day' with enthusiasm. The day commemorates the 'Battle of Charwa' fought on the night of September 7/8, 1965 during the Indo-Pak conflict.
The two-day celebrations were attended by ex-officers of the unit, officers and jawans from neighbouring locations, civil dignitaries, ladies and children. The celebrations included a variety of programmes ranging from formal functions to fun items.
The Commanding Officer of the regiment, addressing the unit on this special occasion, paid rich tributes to the war heroes. He also emphasised the regiment's role in restoring peace, prosperity and tranquility in Assam. He outlined a number of civic action projects to be undertaken by the unit including the adoption of a village. The village would be provided with educational aids and guidance on employment opportunities, he said.
